Everyone had been hired as guards on a merchant ship as it headed to Adhara. The day they were to arrive they were attacked by pirates headed by a captain named Trevor . The pirates are fended off but to escape Trevor, who killed Eldrich, the party stole the pirate ship and escaped. On the ship they met Jonathan, a cleric from Port Galarra pressed into service, who revived Eldrich. They also find a spyglass in the captain’s quarters.
In port while trying to sell the ship Jonathan notified the port authorities of the pirates defeat which resulted in the ship being confiscated and the characters sent to the capital to claim their bounty for the defeat of the pirates. Prior to departure Eldrich made it widely known that he single handedly defeated all the pirates, the number of which continued to increase.
On the way to the capital the party had to pass through a forest. In the forest they come across a caravan surrounded by corpses and containing damaged trade goods and a suit of armour. While transporting the goods the armour and sword animates and start attacking the party. Before defeating them Eldrich is once again killed. At the exit of the forest the party comes across a half-orge demanding payment for passage to appease his brothers. Theon Murkod (Andrew) is severely injured in the encounter but they manage to defeat the half-orge and find a rusted key on his body.
Upon reaching the city the party was sent to the Temple of Pelor to have Eldrich revived before receiving their reward. Since the temple is dedicated to good the party had to be cautious given most of their evil inclinations. Once revived Eldrich and Milo Tealeaf (Phil) are taken to see Iocaste, Malphas Callisto and Eligos Kallichore, each of leader of one of the warring factions vying for control of Adhara. With each of the three leaders trying to recruit the party, Eldrich lust for knowledge causes the party to align with the Iocaste faction.
